Our goal was to create a visually striking awareness campaign for Newtown Square that captivated attention and inspired viewers to step outside of themselves.
The eyes, as the most effective communicators of emotions and often considered the windows to the soul, took center stage. The ubiquity of masks during the COVID-19 pandemic reduced public visibility to only strangers’ eyes.
Our campaign utilizes images of volunteers as a proxy for the gazes of contempt and prejudice experienced by Asian Australians during the pandemic—racism felt but unspoken.
